hello everyone!
miss me?
ha. i doubt so, we're all not online often anyways.
so olevels. all the hype. such an ANTICLIMAX.
but i do understand why everyone says you must study before hand.
cramming two-four years worth of work in 6 hours, plus one hour of insomia, and three hours of sleep before you paper, one week in a row. it'll just kill you off, like it did me.
so anyways. loads of happenings.
-my older brother might be going on holiday with us. wows.
-we might or might not be going on holiday.
-no, im not going to bangkok.
-the only possibility is malacca in malaysia. [BOING. ive been there like trice?]
-my younger brother screwed up his exams, and he's now in a not good class for next year.
-my younger bro's gonna start tuition with my amath tutor.
-my sisters end school next tuesday. [unfair!]
-im in 'love' with jeff thomas. AHHH!! =DD [dream guy. lols. only thing, he's the other side of the world]
-i miss myspaceing.
-i dont miss my email.
so anyways, back to the topic at hand. the o levels. after sitting for a majority of my papers, which were crammed into one fucking week, ive a few views on it.
1. all the hype? its overrated.
2. you really do need to study before hand.
3. you lose momentum after the first three papers or so.
4. MOE doesnt plan the time table well.
5. teachers scaring you about not being able to write your name? FALSE.
6. its easy to smuggle papers in and out. [but i havnt tried that, relax]
7. you get permernant hand cramps.
8. you get a headache that starts before the first paper, and it never ends.
9. you never have enough time. [except for emath2.]
10. the table's too small.
and an individual breakdown and expected grade for each subject. [note that the grade stated is the best possible grade i think i'll attain]
elementary math D: papers 1 & 2 A2a whole slew of careless mistakes. quite pissed with myself, really. its quite an disappointment, considering the papers were quite doable. all the questions on angles in circles killed me off. and the SAS SSS whatever stuff. plus the probablity and dot digram.
combined humanities: social studies and literature in english B3i think my social studies paper was quite ok. my venice question came out, thank goodness. i didnt really study anything else. so i was quite relieved to find a decontextualised source base and a venice structured question. however, there wasnt enough time, and i dont think i have the L4-7 standard required. i'll be happy with a 3 thou. i found the lit paper quite satisfying. its odd, really. i never ever do passage based for anything. but for this paper, i did passage based for both set text and unseen. im quite confident of my answer for 3ci. the other parts werent so high standard, but i feel its better than what ive ever written before, so hopefully, im in luck.
science(physics, chemistry) A2i still have the MCQ portion left, so the expected grade is still ambiguious. i think, [and you will NEVER hear me ever say this again] that the chem paper was easier than the phys paper. the chem paper was surprisingly easy. could do every question, and very few ambigious stuff present. the physics paper is a different story though. i made so many mistakes. i think i feel like crying. physics is my supposedly best and is my favourite subject. but i bombed the paper. so wish me luck here for my mcq. it'll have to pull my combined grade up.
geography (pure) A2this paper was kind of really horrible. my answers were all sub-standard. i dont think i studied hard enough for this paper. i crammed from 8pm-2.45am despite the paper starting at 8am. it was really horrid. nothing much substiential came out. am really disappointed, because this was my best subject in the prelims. sighs. anyways. there's still the mcq portion, which counts for 30% of the paper left. so i still have a chance of getting the grades.
english B3oh man. the english paper was really tough. and the composition questions really boring. paper one. i did the question on career. brought up about 6 points and wrote over 600 words. i think it went quite well. but im not sure if its a A standard. i doubt so, but im hopeful. maybe it'll pull my grade up? i dont know. section b was quite ok. i picked the course on personal finance. i had not much ideas about the first aid or personal fitness. its quite funny really, the red cross people wrote on first aid, the sports people did personal fitness, and everyone else did personal finance. paper two. it was so so so tough. i didnt get half the questions. and the summary was so long, i spent one whole hour on it. didnt have much time to check the rest.
so thats it. the o levels so far. eight whole papers. another four more papers [amath 1 & 2, geog mcq, sci mcq] and im done. but i end about 4-5 days [22nd] later than most other people. which is a really downer. they get to start partying earlier. but grad night's two days after my last paper. manicure with tiffy and dunno whoelse on tues. plus harry potter and the GOF on thursday. which will be cool.
ah. wish me luck. be back next week with updates! =D
take care, and good luck to those with loads of papers next week. =D
